Internet Archive not working? Try these fixes
- Large reference sites often serve a cached copy when their servers struggle, so pages may look stale before they fail.
- If only one article or listing fails, the problem is probably that page, not the whole site.
- Try another device or network, for example mobile data instead of Wi-Fi.
- Hard-refresh the page (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R) or open it in a private window.
- Flush your DNS cache, or switch your DNS to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8.
- Turn off your VPN, ad blocker or other browser extensions and try again.
Questions
Is Internet Archive down right now?
We checked Internet Archive just now and it was up. The server answered with HTTP 200 in 324 ms.
Why is Internet Archive not working for me?
If our check shows Internet Archive is up, the problem is most likely on your side: your network, DNS, browser extensions, or an outdated app. Try the steps above. If it shows down, the problem is on Internet Archive's end and you'll need to wait for them to fix it.
How often do you check Internet Archive?
Every 10 minutes, around the clock. Failed checks are retried once before they're recorded, and we keep 30 days of history.
Where do your checks come from?
From a single server in a data center. A site can be down in one region and up in another, so an outage that only affects some countries may not show up here.
